Reflection
I enjoyed doing to media studies bridging unit. At first I wasnt to keen because it looked like there was alot to do but after I completed the first few blogs I got used to it and I enjoyed completing them. I have learnt how to create my own blog which is fun and exciting. Before I chose to do media studies for my AS levels I didnt know much about a 'blog' at all but now I do and I like using it. Futhermore, I have also learnt a little bit about the term 'media representation' I think this will help me in the future in year 12. I loved that whilst completing my bridging unit I didnt have to do a long hard essay. I was pleased because I had never done work from school like this before which was using the interent to send homework and I was very intrigued. After completing my bridging unit I am now looking forward to starting Media Studies in Year 12. The work has gave me a good insight in what is to come in September.
Guardian story
After browsing the 'guardian online' the article which I found most interesting was 'More than half of Britains access news online'. Figures now show that '55% of adults use the internet to read or download content from papers, broadcasters and online websites'. This just shows you how much times have changed over the past few years, more people are no longer reading the traditional newspaper or a magazine but are now 'picking up tablets and smart phones; to read the latest news and gossip.
It has become more popular since 2007 when then only '20% of adults used the Internet to access news content'. Nearly everywhere you go in the UK you will see a lot of people using their tablets, it now seems it's the only quick and easy way to access information and news as it has become so popular.
It's not only the young who are using this high technology to access news '(49%) of 55 to 64 year olds reporting that they access news online.
In 2013 there has been media interest in how people are going to access the news in the future with 'reports of decreased physical newspaper readership' said the ONS.
Also many more people are using their tablets to do their shopping 'almost three quarters of all adults buying goods or services online'.
In my opinion I think that the world has changed frantically over the past few years because of the new technology that has been brought in and what people are enjoying very much. I think that it is going to keep changing and people are going to surprised, shocked and intrigued in what is to come in the future. I can't wait!
